copy+paste is a series of attempts to either digitally or physically recreate an outfit I saw and admired IRL. (You can find all installments here.) I love seeing street style photos, but ethically, I feel uncomfortable including my iPhone creep shots in a public newsletter unless I’ve explicitly asked someone for permission to share. So the actual photo will remain on my phone, but you will still be able to share in the essence and hopefully appreciate the outfit as much as I did!
I saw her out the window of the B52, envying her freedom and mobility as my bus sat at a standstill. She probably wasn’t running late to her workout class. It was one of the first non-humid days in a while, and she was taking full advantage of it in a pale blue and white tie-dye hoodie, the dye pattern almost cloudlike. Her kick flare plaid pants were cropped for an unobstructed look at her lettuce-hem socks and Doc Marten oxfords. A beat-up leather bag hung from her shoulder, in a blue halfway between robin’s egg and sky. Though we’ve since returned to the heat and humidity, this outfit remains in my mind as a bridge between summer and fall—the tie-dye hoodie and bright leather bag asking us to remain in the sun for just a little while longer, as the plaid pants and oxfords beckon us into the autumnal future. (Can you tell I’m so tired of summer?)
Some secondhand options for each element below:
It’s too hot to even attempt to replicate this outfit now, but as soon as the temperature drops, I think I’ll pair my plaid wool trousers and chunky loafers with something a little more casual on top (the Miami Heat sweatshirt returns!) and the brightest leather bag I can find.
As always, if you buy one of the items in the newsletter—send pics!
Love this series forever!! def going to try and figure out how to do a remix of this outfit with my own closet
I've been draw to tie dye but wasn't sure how to wear it. Up until now 😎 I've been eyeing a blue tie dye sweater, I have a pair of blue docs (something needs to match-MATCH for my brain to be able to compute), and plaid pants. This is a great idea!
