I intended on doing a packing round-up for this West Coast trip—however, my packing was so chaotic, I forgot to take outfit pictures on the second leg of the trip, and the last part of the trip got slightly derailed. So! Here’s the Portland leg of the trip, in outfits.
DAY ONE: Plane travel—wearing both of my necklaces because it’s easier than packing them! Wore sneakers (Nike Blazers, many secondhand here) and a jacket (vintage army, similar here) that I wouldn’t end up needing in Portland, but used once I got to California. Also wearing rented Agolde jeans (secondhand here) and navy linen t-shirt from Uniqlo (similar here and here).
DAY TWO: Did some daytime exploring! Ate blueberry oatmeal chai pancakes (could have done without the chai, but still good) for breakfast, stopped by my friend’s house to pick up my dress for tomorrow, went to Powell’s for a book and a tote, and got some shave ice from Wailua, a place my friend took me last time and I’ve been dreaming about ever since. Wore my NYC sewing club t-shirt and Florida lotto hat (exact secondhand here)—gotta let ‘em know where you come from!—along with my necklaces, Apiece Apart pants (secondhand here), vintage Coach bag (smaller but similar here), and Melissa sandals (secondhand here).
DAY TWO (CONT.): Welcome party! DIY tacos and a trivia game. Wore the Melissa shoes again, thrifted straw bag (similar here if you cut off the charm) and Madewell scarf (similar here), and rented dress via Nuuly (search “Anthropologie Somerset dress” on Poshmark for many secondhand).
DAY THREE: More exploring—went to a workout class, had some lavender iced coffee (we just don’t do lavender syrup casually like that on the East coast!), and went back out for a toasted salt bagel with cream cheese at Spielman Bagels. (A Portland friend later said she’d been unimpressed by Spielman, but I liked it so much I went back again the morning we left.) Wore Florida lotto cap and Melissa sandals again, as well as a black By Malene Birger tank top (similar here), and Needles pants (secondhand here and here). I hit up a vintage store (Program Shop) on the walk back to the Airbnb and got a small vintage GAP crossbody bag in a deep brown leather. They were closing for good (sad!) in a couple days, so everything was on sale.
DAY THREE (CONT.): The wedding!!! Perfect, beautiful, no notes. I knew my friend would kill it on the details (and I was also giving a toast) so I needed to find the perfect dress. I wanted something warm and bright to go with my red nails and shoes—was desperately searching for something orange, but after multiple rentals and shopping excursions, I still hadn’t found anything. I expanded the search from orange to warm colors/patterns, picked a silhouette I knew would fit without trying on, and settled on this Farm Rio dress (many secondhand, search “farm rio beach toucans scarf print dress”) from Poshmark, which I only purchased after confirming with the seller that they could ship it the next day. Had it shipped to my friend’s house in Portland and picked it up with crossed fingers the day before the wedding. Wore with my Maryam Nassir Zadeh sandals (secondhand here in red patent leather, for $68!) and straw bag.
DAY FOUR: Post-wedding picnic in the park with bagels. Wore my Melissa sandals and Coach bag again, along with Jenny Lewis concert t-shirt and Agolde jeans (multiple pairs secondhand here). Walked to the park during a mercifully short-lived thunder and lightning storm so loud it made this Floridian a little bit scared! Took shelter under a Little Free Library (lol) and ended up finding a new-to-me Rona Jaffe that felt in keeping with the color scheme from the previous night.
DAY FOUR (CONT.): Wore my tan baseball cap, Melissa sandals, Agolde jeans, and straw bag again, along with silk scarf (similar here) and Madewell eyelet shirt (similar here) to meet up with Lexie for a long-awaited dinner date—this was the first time we’d ever met in person! She picked me up from my Airbnb and we had whipped ricotta, sourdough veggie pizza, and ice cream. It was perfect, and I can’t thank my twenty-something-year-old Tumblr self enough for befriending the coolest people.

Very impressed with the range of temperatures and occasions you had to pack for on this trip! Also to anyone who is wondering, Eleanor is just as warm, intelligent, and lovely in person as she is online! <3
