Hey Eleanor! I'm one of the co-founders of Indyx and truly stumbling upon and reading this post has made my DAY! Thanks so much for your review.

FYI, we *do* already have a wishlist feature. Go to Collections > Wishlist and you can create collections in this folder that hide the items in them from your main wardrobe (but, of course allows you to style outfits mixing your closet with those wishlist items!) I totally agree that this could be a bit more intuitive and discoverable, but it does the job. I also totally hear you on the outfit generator idea...for now, we're still placing our bets on humans (in the form of YOU as well as our expert stylists) as the best and most creative outfit generators, haha.

If you or anyone else who reads this ever have other feedback or ideas, I'm all ears! Don't hesitate to reach out :)

This was SO helpful! I've been putting off uploading my closet into either since it feels so daunting, but I think this will be a 2025 resolution of mine and you just provided me with a lot of helpful info to get started!

I love the app! I paid for the styling service but ended up canceling my subscription after a good run. The outfit ideas were neat and got me to think out of some of my ruts, but many were not actually wearable.. I don't know how a stylist could coordinate things like shirt hem length and pants rise when they are just working with flatlay images. For a digital closet, it works well and the process of cataloguing my items really opened my eyes to how much I already had and inspired me to start using more of my pieces.

I watched a few YouTube videos from people who also got the styling services and that was something they mentioned as well - I wonder if having people include selfies would be helpful if they continue to build out that feature. I would love to have the power to do that with my friends’ closets on there in a more informal way though!

I love Indyx! I won’t stop telling my friends about my “paper doll app.” It truly fulfills that dress-up game urge.

Pinned! Love the idea of it fulfilling the same desires as a paper doll did back in the day. It definitely gamifies things in a similar way to shopping

I love tracking my closet, but I don't think I can do a migration from Stylebook to Indyx!! So you will just keep getting daily texts from me!! ;)

Oh god, I am so intimidated by this article hahaha! I have avoided these apps bcs I don’t want to know how little of my closet I am actually using 😂😶‍🌫️ maybe someday. Love love love your review comparisons of these kinds of accounts/apps btw, really helpful breakdown. If I ever DO gather the courage to try it, think I would go for indyx!

It’s definitely a wall of information, so I can understand feeling intimidated, but I hope it’s helpful if you do ever go for it! And I actually found it satisfying to see what I really don’t wear as often — feel like it’s helped me *not* make a fair amount of purchases

It is true that I was literally looking for brown suede loafers recently and then pulled out some shoes I had put away for summer that are brown, suede, boat shoe/bootie hybrid…closed all those tabs with a quickness 😂 So the thought of it helping me buy less is def tempting

I really love Indxx, I call it my new hobby—so glad you chose it! I tried to send a closet link but I think Substack may not like sent links. I pinned yours :).
