You have reminded me how much I love a flowy midi skirt - something that was a huge wardrobe staple for me in my mid-twenties, too! I will be considering adding that Derek Lam one to my cart today!
I sent an offer on Poshmark since the seller is seemingly unmotivated to provide measurements. (I feel like people are more inclined to do that on eBay, and I don’t get it.)
I've done this but with a dress (and I basically live in skirts for summer, especially the flowy midi type, they're underrated and even better if they have a wrap fastening).
1995 was such an awesome year with amazing styles and music. What a blast from the past! It must be so much fun for you to have found that skirt again. As for me, I'll just keep those memories because 47-year-old me isn't going to fit into 18-year-old me's clothes!
Oh my god this is so not the point but I feel like a celebrity bcs I have that blue suede Gerard Darel bookmarked hahaha! Was contemplating it as a birthday buy 😂 this has me dreaming about running into the old items I’ve donated, congrats on being reunited at last! Really love that dorothee schumacher skirt 😍
Ah, this is perfect timing! I’ve thrifted a bunch of flowy midi skirts but find myself at a loss on how to wear them. Are we balancing them with big, sporty things now? What is the stance on tucking in a shirt, or are these cropped? Would love to know if there’s a formula out there!
I have liked a boxier cropped tee on top of some of these skirts because I’m not always a fan of the visible elastic waist - but I think a tighter cropped tank top or a really old, almost sheer, vintage t-shirt would also work. For the ones without an elastic waist I think you have more flexibility - maybe even a larger button down but with only a couple buttons fastened!
Close readers remember how you intentionally didn’t buy the same dress twice so it’s kind of funny how this happened serendipitously lol!
lol I feel like you should win an award for noticing this

I’m currently contemplating buying the Express dress I wore to my 8th grade graduation from Poshmark 👀
Share a pic in the chat if you do it!!

Love the styling! I came out in 2022 and have worn nary a skirt since, but I want to try again with your styling inspo :).
Congrats! 😊and happy you’re feeling open to trying them again with some new styling ideas
I'm hearing The Twilight zone theme song. I could swear I had the same black skirt with big light pink flowers, too.
Bought mine in 1995 at Joyce Leslie on University Place near NYU. I'd wear it with my black leather biker jacket and a brown, soft chenille sweater.
Great taste! Truly a classic garment.
Black leather and brown sweater sounds 😍
