week of outfits, round 19 [and 20]
a kayak mishap, multiple florals, and a veterinary emergency!
Here’s a solid couple weeks of outfits for you—I have a little backlog of photos because I don’t do these posts every week (on purpose!), but I’m also trying to include more outfits even if not every one feels revolutionary.
As you probably know by now, I try to provide a secondhand option for every piece of clothing in these posts, whether it’s the exact item or an approximation. Going forward, I’m not going to put “secondhand” before every link—you can assume it’s not new unless I say otherwise.
My friend Kristin was in town for work so she gathered a few people for a birthday dinner at a new restaurant in Williamsburg, Plus de Vin. Highly recommend the fries! Wearing Tory Burch silk blouse (similar one here), Apiece Apart pants (here in green in a 16 for THIRTY DOLLARS on Housing Works website, and here in ivory in a 12 on the RealReal… multiple pairs on Poshmark too but priced too high for me to feel compelled to include here), a Mounser ring (it’s this one, but here’s a different color on Poshmark), a mini tote from the Whitney Museum, and Everlane mary janes, in white here or black velvet here.
Worked from home. Wearing rented Rodebjer shirt jacket (exact one here!), Madewell striped t-shirt (in different color here), Agolde jeans (multiple pairs here), and brown Nike Blazers (exact ones here). Accompanied by my pearl pendant necklace (similar here) and beaded Roxanne Assoulin necklace (similar here).
Went to Lily’s to experiment with jewelry-making—much more successful than our expedition into taper candle painting! I’m wearing a Mignonne Gavigan necklace (similar here), vintage GAP overalls (similar here), Sandy Liang top (similar but not the same Sandy Liang top here, but expensive; very similar H&M version here), Jenny Lewis tour hat, and ASOS red patent leather sandals (sort of similar here).
Was convinced to go on a kayaking expedition with my husband, father-in-law, and a family friend. Ended up having to get out of the kayak in chest-deep water to pull it along the riverbank during a particularly gnarly moment involving a strong current and a bridge piling! 🙃 Wearing that Madewell shirt again, thrifted Florida baseball cap (similar here), husband’s LL Bean shorts (here in faded coral and here in dusky blue), and olive green rubber Birkenstocks, which I might need to re-purchase because my dog got ahold of them later that evening. There’s nothing special about this outfit, but I wanted to include it because I never wear shorts like this. I think the key is getting the men’s version, longer inseam, size up. Sorry if everyone else discovered this ‘hack’ ten years ago!
Wore this to run around a field with my dog before driving back to Brooklyn. Wearing a thrifted Las Vegas shirt (similar vibe here), old GAP “boyfriend chinos” (exact pair here), gold Melissa sandals (exact ones here), and Florida Lottery cap (here in black, and here in the same color with a bonus hat). This is another pair of pants I’m on the fence about—they fit well, and they look fine, but I’m never thrilled by the outfits I put together when I’m wearing them. Maybe it’s the length?
Worked from home? Ran some errands? Idk. I put on shoes so I must have left the apartment! Wearing Agolde jeans again, Holzweiler blue suede sandals (similar vibe in leather here), eyelet shirt from Urban Outfitters (similar here), and Eric Javits tote via Poshmark (exact one here). And my handmade necklace!
Wearing that eyelet shirt, gold Melissa sandals, and the Eric Javits tote again, as well as Ashley Park x RTR pants (similar here), Queens County Farm baseball cap, and a Madewell scarf on the tote (similar here).
Errands and WFH. Wearing COS cropped trench (exact one here, and here in white), COS striped blue and white shirt (similar cut here), Jenny Lewis baseball cap, vintage Coach bag (similar here), rented Agolde jeans (exact pair here), and Bass loafers (exact ones here). Fall is in the air!
Wore this to work… and then later to the emergency vet when my dog decided to swallow a sewing needle at 8pm!!! All’s well in the end (somehow the needle made it through his whole system without a scratch) but it was one of the worst nights of my life. If my dog is not sleeping next to me on the bed I am not okay! Wearing Batsheva x Laura Ashley top (exact one here), Agolde jeans, and Bass loafers.
Repeated the Batsheva shirt for dinner with a friend—had to imbue it with some different energy after the emergency vet experience! Also wore my Needles trousers (here and here), black Melissa sandals (here and here), and leather Baggu bag (here in miniature size, here in lavender, and here in burgundy) that was a gift from my husband. Anyone else remember Baggu’s leather era?
It’s loafer weather! Headed to a birthday party wearing Uniqlo men’s corduroy button-down (similar here), Proenza Schouler white button-down via the RealReal (similar here), rented Agolde jeans, Bass loafers, and a tote from Powell’s in Portland.
Repeating the Nike Blazers as well as the rented Rodebjer jacket and Agolde jeans with a monster truck rally t-shirt (same one here) and my Who? Weekly baseball cap.
If you missed the previous installments of weekly outfit posts, you can find them here!
my sister's cat swallowed a sewing needle with the thread attached - same as your experience, it traveled all the way through without tragedy. how is that possible???
Those overalls are perfection 🚂
