that Gap bag is a beauty btw, a little conditioner on that strap and it'll be glowing!

re: TRR, the shipping charge is a sneaky little bugger, it's the main reason why my orders were hardly ever just one thing, it's usually ended up as 'if I get this other thing I want I can get the average shipping cost down'. And they're notoriously misleading, I've learnt never to trust them on shoe sizing (they classify things by default as Italian sizes even on brands which are French and using EU sizes which are smaller).

and yeah I totally understand about struggling with summer dressing. The sweat always threatens to ruin anything nice, even with my cotton-linen-rayon dictum in place it's a fine line to walk between 'looks good' and 'can actually be washed without drabness/shrinkage'.

I never trust the sizing! I try to look for the garments on other websites so I can get the measurements that way..

I love your top. That seems like such a thoughtful purchase.

The insanity that is TRR shipping!! Only positive is it makes you decide if you really “have to have” it!

Can’t wait to see how you style that top as someone who is terrible at buying “blouses” and very good at buying t-shirts lol

I have been looking for blouses that don’t need to be tucked in—I find that makes it easier to style / more casual !

TRR shipping to Australia is like US$75...it puts a proper reality check on whether I really want something! I've gotten very used to only shopping in person, which has made me even more apprehensive about shopping online -- too much uncertainty. The net effect is that I bought fewer things this year, which my wallet is pleased about. My latest purchase is a white shirt, and I feel very chic whenever I wear it, sadly it is mostly buried under a jumper as it is still rather cold in Melbourne!

That shipping cost would definitely stop me in my tracks as well!! How often have you ordered from them? I imagine it would have to be a statement piece, something originally VERY expensive that you’d been searching for for a long time and knew would fit

I haven't ordered anything since I moved to Australia two years ago. When I lived in Singapore, the shipping was also expensive but I used a decent third party shipper which got the shipping down to about US$20, depending on package weight. I never went crazy - it's too expensive to return stuff and you never know with TRR size descriptions - but I treasure all my sub US$100 gems from the site! I have better luck with Vestiaire, usually shipping is about US$35. But with both sites I also have to factor in customs and duties. Generally, when I see an item I like on either site I have to mentally add about US$50 to $80 to the price because I know that is what will happen once I add to cart.

I want to try on those Melissa sandals next summer!

The leather on that Gap bag looks so high quality that I wonder if you could give it the same treatment that works well for vintage Coach bags 🤔 washing it with Dawn dish soap, letting it dry, and then applying leather conditioner.

My favorite secondhand find in July was a vintage Banana Republic linen shirt. My fail was a pair of vintage cat eye sunglasses that look too small for my face.

I’ve never tried that on a leather bag, probably because I’ve usually spent more than $20 and don’t wanna risk it! I might try that but I also want the inside cleaned - do you also do the inside that way as well? (It’s unlined)

I’ve only ever done it on unlined bags with excellent results. This is what I’ve done many times: https://www.ellaprettyblog.com/how-to-restore-vintage-coach-bag-step/ Cheaper than the dry cleaner and spares you the nasty chemicals!

Thank you!

THANK YOU for not only saying you dislike summer but also wearing shorts because I feel the same and it’s a lonely hill to be on. Please give me cool weather and long pants eternally

Yes! Lonely but feels great when you do find your people. I don’t know where you live but unless you’re in San Francisco I’m assuming you’ve also had a hot and humid summer this year!

I’m a Chicago girl who has been living in NYC and let me tell ya this heat and humidity is NOT it for me

After a dud of a TRR order where I didn’t like what I had ordered, I found a pair of Margiela oxfords in my size for $50….it looks like they have only been worn twice but were listed as “Good” condition. I feel so bad for whoever was selling them but WOW I am excited

😍it’s those gems that keep me coming back… almost feels like paying my dues to occasionally drop off things for consignment if I’m gonna benefit from their pricing structure as a buyer haha
