*with apologies to Hailey Bieber … my brain is broken (in the best way!) from listening to Who? Weekly
It looks like my clothing purchases from June have inadvertently come together to make a complete outfit—one that I might actually wear! Here’s the breakdown:
Black leather belt from eBay ($20): I think the quest for the black leather belt ends here—getting a braided belt instead of one that has discrete buckle holes is a good way to get around the surprisingly difficult task of properly sizing a belt based on online measurements.
Eric Javits straw bag from Poshmark ($38): No complaints! It’s exactly what I was looking for—a daily summer bag that can easily fit my notebook, a library book, sunglasses and real glasses, sunscreen, keys, and a snack or two.
Roxanne Assoulin necklace from the RealReal ($72, with credit from sales so only paid $30): Continuing to add to my necklace collection! If you haven’t been hanging out in the RFC chat you should check out the necklaces people have been sharing there. Another necklace inspiration of late is
, particularly at the end of this most recent post.Matteau brown silk shirt from ThredUp for $9 (yes, $9!) - Was inspired to check out ThredUp again after reading
of ’s very comprehensive guide to navigating the most chaotic resale app on the internet. I checked out the unbranded section, did my reverse image search as from the taught me, and was validated by the result. I liked the shirt regardless, but it was nice to know I liked it before I knew the brand and the original price tag (upwards of $400!) It hasn’t arrived yet, but I’m hopeful that it will fit.Apiece Apart pants from Rent the Runway ($105): Decided to make it official. My data from Stylebook says I’ve worn them 31 times since I first rented them in late February. I’m willing to bet I can get that cost per wear close to $1 by the end of the year!
Everlane Day Mary Jane in black ($158, used a $200 gift card so I didn’t spend anything): I’ve had this gift card for a few months but wasn’t feeling drawn to anything new. I’ve had mixed experiences with (and heard mixed reviews about) Everlane shoes, but these had great reviews, and the leather seemed soft enough that they wouldn’t cause any bunion-related pain. I’ll wear them for real when the temperature drops again, but the report from walking around my apartment is two thumbs up! Also, now I can try to recreate the latest copy+paste look.
TOTAL SPENT: $202
Here are the things I wanted this month but didn’t go for:
-An oversized cotton sweater vest because of this post from
— she also has an oversized cotton vest from R13 if I remember correctly, and that style looks so good on her! There are several similar Ralph Lauren sweater vests on eBay and Poshmark right now, but I feel like I should try them on in person because the fit is pretty specific, even though it’s oversized.-All the Agolde jeans on sale on the RealReal. I don’t find Agolde sizing super consistent, so I’m not comfortable getting anything on final sale unless I’m sure about that particular cut.
-Catbird necklace. I have a Catbird gift card for about $80, but everything I’m interested in costs more than that, and I’d rather wait until I can go to the store and try on some jewelry in person. (Sensing a theme here… it’s good for me to try things on if possible!)
-A different color of the Melissa sandals I have in black. They’re on final sale in a gold/tan combo for $43 and I’m really tempted…
Any purchases (clothing or otherwise) that you are feeling good about this month?
