There’s a lot of discourse on Substack right now about what people want to read post-election. I admire and appreciate all of the writers who continue to acknowledge that fashion is always political (thanks for putting me on this list,
!). And while you’ll continue to see those kinds of posts from me, you’ll also continue to get lighter posts, like this (relatively short, thankfully!) list of the clothes I bought last month. I’m hoping that posts like these are a welcome vicarious escape when they arrive in your inbox. There’s always more work to be done in the world, and most of it lives (blessedly) offline. <3
Akris 100% wool dress (via the RealReal): I’ve never seen anything like this dress—the neckline is zip-up (almost athleisure-like?), the cuffs are ribbed, there’s a stretchy elastic belt… somehow it all works. This dress keeps you warm, though, and while I will appreciate that at some point, the weather has not been cold enough to wear it yet! I love it with the loafers, and also want to try it with boots, sneakers, and maybe even my patent leather sandals. Hoping it will show up in a week of outfits post soon.
W’Menswear Unisex Freedom Flight Pants: The photo on the left is me trying on these pants at my friend Anna’s apartment this summer. I thought about getting them for months. After a couple solid cash-outs at Beacon’s Closet and a $140 payout from the RealReal, I went for it and bought them at Alter in Greenpoint. Have worn them multiple times since then!
Striped BDG t-shirt (via Depop): This was somehow my first purchase on Depop ever?! I thrifted this shirt in purple earlier this year and really loved the shape, the mock neck, and the ribbed cuffs. Decided to see if I could find it in any other colors and Depop delivered!
Levi’s x Karla western two-tone denim shirt (via Poshmark): I wanted to share a photo of myself wearing this shirt, but instead I’ve shared a screenshot of the USPS journey it took—it was shipped on the 25th and hung out for quite a few days in a few different cities before finally arriving at my doorstep on the 9th. I have since tried it on, it fits perfectly, and I’m excited to use it as a layering piece with turtlenecks this winter.
Another RealReal bonus selection for you—this Lee Mathews shirt has been up for months and I can’t believe it hasn’t sold yet!
(When I share secondhand options in other posts, I try to be as size-inclusive as possible. I recognize that sharing things from my RealReal obsessions is inherently *not* size-inclusive, as they’re all things I’ve searched for with my own size filters on. The point of this section is to get other people to remove things from my wishlist, but in the future, I will skew towards bags and jewelry here when I can!)
