Brought out the manzanilla olive/kidney bean color combo again this week! Didn’t have anything in birth control blue to complete the trifecta, but I substituted that with what I believe has been somewhat lazily dubbed and largely accepted as “berry pink” (in the form of the beanie below.) Maybe this is raspberry-adjacent?
Occasion: WFH
Details: Everlane hat from a million years ago (okay, 2017), similar here; TSE cashmere sweater via TRR, similar here; old Madewell skirt, same one here (4) and here (0); burgundy ribbed tights; burgundy Bass loafers, secondhand here.
Notes: Changed the hat (this time to a COS neon cashmere beanie, similar here and here) and added coat (thrifted, similar here) and Coach bag (via Etsy, similar here) to go out. Should have kept the pink hat on.
Occasion: Erranding, WFH
Details: Coach beanie via eBay, same beanie here; Cecchi e Cecchi wool scarf (see Notes); Tibi Liam jacket purchased via RTR, exact one secondhand here; Uniqlo ultra light down puffer, secondhand here; Uniqlo flannel shirt, secondhand here; dark brown MUJI corduroy pants, similar here and here.
Notes: This scarf deserves its own post. But I will try to do it justice here. My dearest childhood friend’s mom had a longtime friend who died of cancer. She loved clothes and fashion, and as she only had sons, instructed her husband to invite all of her girlfriends and their daughters over to pick out whatever they wanted from her closet after she was gone. My friend and her mom brought me along, and this gentle, grieving man led us into their dining room, where all of her garments were carefully laid out on the table and draped over chairs. I chose this scarf. Each time I wear it, I think about her and marvel at all of the ways we live on in other people’s memories. I will never, ever get rid of this scarf.
Occasion: Dinner out (another gift card! Pro tip if you do not need any more stuff but you have lovely people in your life who want to give you gifts and ask for suggestions… ask for a gift card to a favorite or new restaurant around you!)
Details: Opening Ceremony silk bomber via Poshmark, exact one secondhand here and here; red thrifted cashmere sweater, similar here; vintage blue/grey wool trousers, similar here; cow print Bass loafers, exact pair here, similar here.
Notes: I don’t want to trash talk on main, but if you live in Brooklyn and want to know what new and very hyped up restaurant did not live up to expectations… DM me.
Occasion: WFH
Details: Vintage Miami Heat sweatshirt, similar here; Apiece Apart pants, secondhand here, similar here; rented Missoma necklace, secondhand here; cow print Bass loafers again.
Notes: Glad I kept cropping this sweatshirt (might do another inch.) It hangs much more nicely now that it doesn’t have that awkwardly low waistband!
Occasion: WFH
Details: Coach beanie again; purple cashmere TSE sweater via Poshmark, similar here; insanely well-draped cotton pants that look like wool via Beacon’s Closet, similar here; Nike Blazers, secondhand here.
Notes: I bought these pants in a hurry, without trying them on, because they were $12 and I thought I needed more “work pants.” That was on March 10th or 11th of 2020. They fit perfectly, and I technically did not need any pants for the rest of the school year!
Occasion: WFH
Details: Tibi Liam jacket again; old American Apparel fisherman sweater, exact one secondhand here; Sam Edelman boots, exact style secondhand here (9) here (10.5) here (9) here (9.5); Nike sweatpants, exact ones secondhand here and similar styles here and here.
Notes: These are my favorite sweatpants—very baggy but a little more pulled together by a cuffed ankle. I especially like them with boots. I have them in grey and black, too, and I think the grey looks unexpectedly very chic with a loafer!
Occasion: Another torrential downpour, another laundry day (this week’s laundromat book: Creation Lake by Rachel Kushner), cooking dinner for downstairs neighbor friends.
Details: Coach beanie again; COS wool shirt, secondhand here in lavender; Garnet Hill cotton sweater vest via eBay, similar here here here (still on sale on their website, too); Rent the Runway x Ashley Park pants, similar here here here and here; Sam Edelman boots again.
Notes: This book doesn’t come out until September. I’m the worst. But if, like me, you were not a big fan of The Mars Room, I think you will enjoy this one—feels much more like The Flamethrowers. Preorder it from your local independent bookstore for bonus points!
