Again, running on a bit of a delay with the outfit posts, so if you’re also in NYC and confused by the discrepancy between these outfits and the current weather, that’s why!
Occasion: Small sewing group meet-up
Details: Coach beanie that I literally always wear, exact one here; COS green wool turtleneck, exact one secondhand here; Anne Klein belt, similar here; vintage blue/grey wool trousers, similar here; cow print Bass loafers, exact pair here, similar here.
Notes: The belt was a last minute addition—it was sent to me by mistake instead of the belt I ordered on Poshmark tl;dr it didn’t get sent back in time so I kept it. I don’t usually like silver hardware on belts, but the button on these pants fell off as I was about to leave, so I was glad to have it! Any guesses as to when I will get around to replacing this button are welcome in the comments.
Occasion: WFH
Details: Vintage Miami Heat sweatshirt, similar here; white Derek Lam button-up via TRR, similar here; old Madewell skirt, same one here (4) and here (0); burgundy ribbed tights; burgundy Bass loafers, secondhand here.
Notes: I’m a little self-conscious about how often I’ve worn this Miami Heat sweatshirt recently, but… isn’t that the point of having clothes? To wear them? It’s interesting, trying to pinpoint why outfit repeating feels shameful—even though intellectually I know better, there’s this nagging voice telling me to show you all a picture of my full closet, to prove I have other clothes, or reassure you that the sweatshirt is always washed between wears. Anyway, I liked this outfit, even though some might say the combo of wool skirt, loafers, and button-up pushes it too far into schoolgirl territory. I really like it with the Miami Heat sweatshirt, though… feels like I’m a student at Miami Heat Academy (where everyone’s favorite teacher is Mr. Butler, obviously!)
Occasion: WFH
Details: COS cashmere beanie, similar here; green Uniqlo corduroy shirt (a ton of these on Poshmark); Proenza Schouler button-up via TRR, similar here and here; Calvin Klein jeans via Etsy, similar here; Nike Blazers in coffee, secondhand here.
Notes: Inspired by an outfit chat thread started by Kelly, I layered a couple button-ups with some jeans for a relatively mild spring day.
Occasion: A reading at the Center for Fiction for Worry by Alexandra Tanner—a last-minute invite from friend Jess (and two-for-one tacos before!)
Details: Miami Heat sweatshirt (yeah, we know!); rented Monse pants, very similar here and similar here here; Mignonne Gavigan necklace, exact one secondhand here; Nike Blazers, secondhand here.
Notes: After my no-buy March, I’m attempting a one-buy April—and I think a sweatshirt that serves a similar purpose to this one should be in the running. I like the casual vibe of a graphic sweatshirt, and it pairs well with more formal pieces, like these pinstripe pants, or a collared shirt, giving it that necessary friction. Maybe having one more graphic sweatshirt in the rotation would be helpful.
Occasion: WFH
Details: Thrifted red cashmere sweater, similar here; Muji dark brown corduroy pants, similar here; Nike Blazers again.
Notes: Eh. This is a fine outfit, it just feels a little plain? Both of these items (sweater and the cords) are things I tend to gravitate towards when I don’t feel great in my body—the sartorial equivalent of comfort food—and I guess I was feeling that way.
Occasion: WFH
Details: Baseball cap that was a giveaway at the aforementioned reading, similar here; black J.Crew tissue turtleneck, tons secondhand here; Calvin Klein faded denim shirt, similar here; braided leather belt, similar here; Apiece Apart pants, similar here; burgundy Bass loafers again.
Notes: This outfit was wasted on the day, and by that I mean I didn’t run into any of my neighbors or go anywhere in this outfit, which is a bummer. But now I get to share it with you all!
Occasion: WFH
Details: Coach beanie again; oldddd Zara scarf (100% wool!) that I coveted on my lunchtime Fifth Avenue shopping walks when I worked in Midtown in 2013, similar here and here; Uniqlo corduroy shirt again; thrifted denim barn jacket, similar here; thrifted BDG purple striped t-shirt, exact one secondhand here; Calvin Klein jeans again; Nike Blazers again.
Notes: There’s something so oddly comforting about this top—you should look at the listing on Poshmark to see the shirt on its own. Something about the colors, the cuffs on the sleeves; it feels childlike without being childish.
