This is a jumbo deluxe “week” of outfits—there are almost two weeks’ worth here! But I wanted to keep all the Florida outfits together. Here’s some more hot weather inspiration for you as the temps continue to rise in the Northeast.
DAY ONE: What else does one wear to go thrifting in Florida but a thrifted Florida Lottery shirt (similar here)? Worn with my rented Agolde jeans (similar here, here, and here), green J. Crew tote (exact one here; many secondhand here), pearl pendant necklace (similar here), and olive green rubber Birkenstocks (secondhand here).
DAY TWO: Wore this to a street market in St. Pete where my friend was selling her glassware. Got to see her two days in a row—lucky me! I’m wearing a black By Malene Birger tank top (many similar here), rented Apiece Apart pants (secondhand here), Holzweiler sandals (similar here), a Madewell scarf (similar here), and purple J. Crew woven tote (here in navy, similar vibe here).
DAY THREE: Went to a Rowdies game with my dad and my husband. This outfit felt “sporty” enough. Ended up ditching the bag at the last minute for fear of being turned away by overzealous security. Wearing my thrifted straw bag, orange/brown Madewell scarf (similar here), Needles pants (secondhand here), thrifted Calvin Klein chambray shirt (similar here), orange By Malene Birger tank top (similar here), and olive Birkenstocks again.
DAY FOUR: Beach day! Husband and I ate some Publix subs in the car and checked into a hotel for the night. Sat on the beach (under an umbrella, of course) and read Martyr! by Kaveh Akbar from start to finish. Wearing Sandy Liang shirt (exact one secondhand here), thrifted Florida baseball cap (similar here), and thrifted overall shorts (exact ones secondhand here).
DAY FOUR (CONT.): The post-beach shower is like no other! Wore this to walk along the beach, eat fried grouper, and unsuccessfully search for the comet—we’ll try again in 71 years. Wearing Madewell eyelet shirt (exact one secondhand here), COS cropped trench (similar COS cropped trench here), rented Agolde jeans again, thrifted straw bag again, and Madewell scarf again.
DAY FIVE: WFH and errands. Wearing the Agolde jeans again, Holzweiler sandals again, Proenza Schouler button-up shirt via the RealReal (similar here and here), J. Crew tote again, and Don CeSar hat (featured in this post).
DAY SIX: WFH and errands again! Wearing rented Ciao Lucia shirt (similar options here), rented Agolde jeans again, J. Crew tote again, Madewell scarf (similar here), and Melissa sandals (secondhand here).
DAY SIX (CONT.): dinner with friends. More fried grouper. When in Rome! Wearing Met tank top (similar style here), Anthropologie pants (very similar here), Melissa sandals again, straw bag and Madewell scarf again.
DAY SEVEN: WFH and then beach day with parents, aunt, and husband. Wore my Toast shorts via Beacon’s Closet (similar here, search “cotton linen pleated shorts” for many other options), braided belt via Poshmark (similar here), thrifted striped shirt (similar here), thrifted Florida hat again, and olive Birkenstocks again.
DAY EIGHT: WFH and errands. Wearing the rented Agolde jeans again, black tank again, Holzweiler sandals again, J.Crew tote again, and a Current/Elliott button-up via the RealReal (exact one secondhand here). This was another item of clothing I left at my parents’ house and forgot about—handy!
DAY NINE: Dinner out with the family. Wearing the Madewell eyelet shirt again, Holzweiler sandals again, purple J. Crew tote again, pearl necklace again, and rented Rodebjer pants (similar here). Bonus points if you spot the dog in the background!
DAY TEN: Deep thrifting trip in the morning and WFH in the afternoon. Felt appropriate to wear a thrifted shirt while thrifting. I can’t remember the brand, but similar options abound on Poshmark, Etsy, etc. if you search for Hawaiian shirts—this one is pretty similar. Mine (and the linked option) are both rayon, which I don’t usually go for, but sometimes it has a nicer drape than cotton. Wearing it with the green J.Crew tote again, rented Apiece Apart pants again, and olive green Birkenstocks again.
DAY ELEVEN: WFH. Already wearing the spoils of my thrifting trip — a linen/cotton Tommy Hilfiger button-up from the men’s department (similar here), as well as the rented Apiece Apart pants again and black rubber Birkenstocks (secondhand here).
DAY TWELVE: A simple outfit and a simple backdrop to cleanse the timeline! (Also, everything else was already packed.) Wore this old Madewell shirt (exact one secondhand here) with the pearl necklace and rented Agolde jeans to finish my work for the day and get on a flight home.
I think it’s easier for me to pack for a three-week trip than for a three-day one! I knew the temperature would be pretty consistent, the stakes were low (if I somehow “ran out” of clothes I had my mom and sister to borrow from), and I could do laundry, so I had enough flexibility but not too many choices. I might artificially limit my closet like this when it turns into full-blown summer in New York—not a capsule wardrobe per see (that feels far too confined, and doesn’t allow for the reality of getting very sweaty and not re-wearing clothes between washes! how do people do it!)—but maybe I’ll put away half of my summer clothes and see if I miss anything while it’s packed up.
